Srinagar, Dec 18: The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has issued a weather advisory, predicting cloudy conditions with chances of snow and rain across Jammu and Kashmir in the coming days.
According to Director of the Meteorological Department, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, the region will experience partly to generally cloudy weather from December 18-19, with very light snowfall expected in isolated higher reaches of North and Central Kashmir.
From December 20-21, the forecast indicates generally cloudy conditions, with light to moderate snowfall likely over higher altitudes of the Kashmir division. Meanwhile, the plains of Jammu and Kashmir may receive light to moderate rainfall, especially from late night on December 20 until the afternoon of December 21.
December 22 is expected to remain generally cloudy with scattered light rain or snow, while December 23-29 will see partly to generally cloudy skies. Light snowfall may occur at isolated higher reaches on December 30-31.
Issuing an advisory, the Meteorological Department specifically warned that higher areas of Kupwara, Bandipora, and Ganderbal districts could witness moderate to heavy snowfall, particularly on December 21. Travellers and transporters have been urged to plan journeys carefully and follow traffic and administrative advisories strictly.
