JAMMU, AUGUST 16: Directorate of School Education Jammu’s 15 days long 75th Independence Day celebrations culminated today with more than 11540 government schools of the Jammu division joining in on the final day today.
Over 62,000 employees along with students celebrated the day with great fervour and patriotism.
Students, staff members, and officials from all the 10 districts of the Jammu division celebrated the day by illuminating the schools and offices with lights and decorated them with flowers and balloons. Students dressed up in colorful attires performed various cultural and other activities after hoisting the national flag in their respective schools and offices. Sweets were distributed among students and among people in the vicinity of the educational institution and offices.
In district Jammu, more than 1240 schools, district Kathua 1233, Samba 367, Reasi 1129, Poonch 1494, Rajouri 1630, Doda 1246, Udhampur 1515, Kishtwar 812, and in District Ramban approximately 872 schools participated in the celebrations.
In his message to the students, teachers, and other officials of the Jammu division, Director School Education Jammu, Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma exhorted everyone to remember the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters to free India from the foreign yolk. Independence came at a heavy price and needs to be preserved with every possible ounce of dedication and commitment, he added. He said that today’s students are tomorrow’s future of India and the Directorate will leave no stone unturned in making sure that every possible facility is provided to them and no child remains without formal education. He applauded the efforts put in by the staff members and students in making the celebrations a grand success.
The events were organized under the guidance of Principal Secretary to Government B. K. Singh and keen supervision of Chief Education Officers of the respective districts with Director School Education Jammu Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma monitoring the day-to-day proceedings.
