The India A women’s hockey team tour of China is set to begin on October 13, with the side scheduled to play a five-match series against Liaoning at the Liaoning Sports Centre in Dalian. The matches will be held on October 13, 15, 17, 19, and 21.
The squad, designed to balance experienced names with emerging talent, will be captained by defender Manisha Chauhan, who brings tactical discipline and leadership to the group. The team will be coached by Dave Smolenaars, analytical coach of the senior Indian women’s side, who aims to use the tour to sharpen tactical awareness and foster player development.
“This series is an excellent opportunity for young players to showcase their abilities, adapt to international conditions, and gain valuable exposure,” said Smolenaars. “Challenging players outside their comfort zone is essential for their growth and confidence.”
The Dalian tour is considered a crucial step in Hockey India’s development pathway, offering a platform for players to gain international match experience and build resilience ahead of major global tournaments.
By investing in opportunities like the China series, Hockey India continues to focus on strengthening bench depth and nurturing the next generation of women’s hockey stars.
