India Bounce Back With Confident Win Over New Zealand

India registered a commanding 4-wicket victory over New Zealand (DLS Method) in their second warm-up game ahead of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka from September 30.

Chasing 237 after a rain delay, India got off to a flying start but slipped to 71/2 before skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (69) and Harleen Deol (74) steadied the innings with a crucial 132-run stand for the third wicket. Despite late hiccups, India crossed the finish line with 10 balls to spare.

Earlier, New Zealand skipper Sophie Devine (50) anchored her side after early wickets, while Melie Kerr (40) chipped in to take the score past 200. India’s bowlers struck at regular intervals to keep the chase within reach.

The win marked a strong comeback for India, who had suffered a heavy defeat to England in their first warm-up game.

Bangladesh Seal Last-Ball Thriller Against Sri Lanka

In another warm-up fixture, Bangladesh edged past Sri Lanka by just one run in a nail-biting contest. Defending 242/8, Bangladesh held their nerve as Marufa Akter bowled the tense final over, supported by Nahida Akter’s 3/28, which turned the match in their favour.

Sri Lanka fought hard through Nilakshika Silva (75) and Kaveesha Dilhari (63), but fell short in the last over. Earlier, Bangladesh’s Sharmin Akter (71) top-scored in their total of 242, with Rubya Haider providing solid support.
