New Delhi, Oct 29: Senior military commanders from India and China held the 23rd round of Corps Commander Level talks at the Moldo-Chushul border meeting point on the Indian side, engaging in detailed discussions to manage tensions and ensure stability along the western sector of the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
According to a statement issued by the Chinese Ministry of National Defence on Wednesday, the meeting took place on October 25, 2025, where both delegations conducted “active and in depth communication” on managing the border and reducing friction in sensitive areas.
“The two sides engaged in active and in-depth communication on the management of the western section of the China-India border and exchanged views on reducing confrontation,” the statement read.
The ministry added that the talks were held under the “important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries,” and both sides agreed to maintain regular communication through established military and diplomatic channels.
“They agreed to continue dialogue and consultation under the guidance of the consensus reached by the leaders, and jointly safeguard peace and tranquillity in the border areas,” it said.
The meeting marks the latest step in the ongoing dialogue between New Delhi and Beijing to de-escalate tensions stemming from the 2020 standoff in eastern Ladakh the most severe border confrontation in decades that left soldiers dead on both sides and significantly strained bilateral ties.
Since the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan in 2024, both nations have sought to improve relations and reduce border friction.
Earlier in August, India and China held the 24th round of the Special Representatives’ Dialogue on the Boundary Question, agreeing to create a Working Group under the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC). The group aims to enhance coordination for effective border management and promote peace along the LAC.
Both sides have reaffirmed that future engagements will focus on gradual de-escalation, guided by diplomatic principles and confidence building measures to sustain long-term stability in border regions.
