India, May 24 : India strengthened its Mediterranean outreach after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides announced a new strategic partnership on May 23. The agreement focuses on shipping, digital infrastructure, energy cooperation and maritime security.
Officials said both countries will establish a joint task force to improve investment opportunities and boost bilateral trade. India also highlighted Cyprus as a gateway for Indian businesses entering Europe. The leaders discussed regional tensions in West Asia and the Ukraine conflict while stressing diplomatic dialogue and peaceful solutions.
The partnership is expected to increase cooperation in fintech, tourism and clean energy while strengthening India’s presence in the eastern Mediterranean region.
