NUUK, Sept 22: India is expanding its engagement with Greenland, with Ambassador to Denmark Manish Prabhat holding discussions with political, government and business representatives on mining, investment, skilled manpower, tourism and cultural cooperation.
Prabhat met Greenland Parliament Speaker Kim Marius Kielsen in Nuuk and discussed opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation. The talks included potential Indian investment in Greenland’s mining sector and the supply of skilled Indian professionals for healthcare and hospitality.
The two sides also explored cooperation in tourism, filmmaking, Yoga and Ayurveda. Kielsen briefed the Indian envoy on Greenland’s development priorities and its vision for the prosperity of its people.
Prabhat also held discussions with Greenlandic officials on India’s interest in Arctic research and cooperation with local research institutions and scientific communities.
During his visit, the ambassador engaged with business representatives on Greenland’s growing openness to foreign investment, including in mining. Workforce requirements in healthcare, hospitality and tourism were also discussed.
The Indian delegation further visited Royal Greenland, where Prabhat met Chief Executive Officer Toke Binzer. Discussions covered the company’s fisheries operations, international expansion and the use of new technologies in its trawler fleet.
Alongside economic engagement, the Indian mission organised “Namaste Greenland” programmes in Nuuk. The initiative included sessions on Yoga and Ayurveda, highlighting cultural exchanges and traditional practices shared by India and Greenland.
The latest outreach reflects India’s broader efforts to develop ties with Greenland in areas including Arctic research, minerals, investment, tourism, skilled manpower and cultural cooperation.
