New Delhi, Nov 12: India on Wednesday strongly rejected Pakistan’s “baseless and unfounded allegations” attempting to link New Delhi to the recent suicide bomb blast in Islamabad, calling it a diversionary tactic to distract from the country’s internal political turmoil.
In a sharp statement, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal dismissed Pakistan’s claims as “a predictable tactic” by its leadership.
“India unequivocally rejects the baseless and unfounded allegations being made by an obviously delirious Pakistani leadership. It is a predictable tactic by Pakistan to concoct false narratives against India in order to deflect the attention of its own public from the ongoing military-inspired constitutional subversion and power grab unfolding within the country,” Jaiswal said.
He further added that the international community is fully aware of the reality and will not be misled by Pakistan’s “desperate diversionary ploys.”
The remarks came a day after a suicide blast near Islamabad’s District Judicial Complex killed 12 people and injured at least 27 others.
The incident coincides with Pakistan’s controversial 27th Constitutional Amendment Bill, which grants sweeping powers to Army Chief Asim Munir. The amendment, passed by the Senate on Monday, proposes the creation of a Chief of Defence Forces a role that consolidates military control by transferring authority from the president and cabinet to the armed forces.
Under the new provisions, constitutional cases will no longer be heard by the Supreme Court, but by a newly formed Federal Constitutional Court, whose judges will be appointed by the government.
India’s response underscores its stance that Pakistan’s leadership is using fabricated narratives to shift focus from its domestic constitutional crisis.
