NEW DELHI, May 12: India on Tuesday reacted sharply to reports claiming that China extended technical assistance to Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, asserting that responsible nations must consider how such actions influence their global credibility.
Responding to questions during a media briefing, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the reports only confirmed concerns that were already known to India.
He described Operation Sindoor as a “precise, targeted and calibrated” mission launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, with the objective of dismantling terror infrastructure allegedly operating from Pakistani territory with state backing.
Jaiswal said nations aspiring to be seen as responsible stakeholders in global affairs should reflect on whether helping protect terror-linked networks damages their international standing.
His remarks came days after Chinese state media acknowledged Beijing’s involvement in providing on ground technical assistance to Pakistan during the four day military confrontation with India in May 2025.
According to a report by the Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post, China’s state broadcaster CCTV aired an interview with Zhang Heng, an engineer associated with the Aviation Industry Corporation of China’s Chengdu Aircraft Design and Research Institute.
The report stated that Zhang had offered technical assistance to Pakistan during the conflict. Pakistan currently operates Chinese-origin J-10CE fighter aircraft manufactured by a subsidiary of AVIC.
