NEW DELHI, Sept 23: The government has launched the 7th edition of the National Formulary of India (NFI) along with new initiatives aimed at improving medicine and patient safety.
Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel launched NFI 2026 during the 6th National Pharmacovigilance Week programme organised by the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission in New Delhi.
The latest edition provides updated guidance to support the safe and rational use of medicines in healthcare settings. It has also been made available digitally through the NFI Online platform.
The government also introduced a guidance document for hospitals on safety monitoring and reporting adverse events associated with medical devices. In addition, the ADR-PvPI 2.0 mobile application was launched for iOS users to strengthen adverse drug reaction reporting.
The initiatives are intended to expand pharmacovigilance and biovigilance practices, encourage timely reporting of safety concerns and provide healthcare professionals with better tools for protecting patients.
