China, on the other hand, has a population of 1.4257 billion (142.57 crore), making it the second most populous country, as per the UN world population dashboard.

A new report by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) reveals that 25% of India’s population falls in the age group of 0-14 years, 18% in the 10 to 19 age group, 26% in the age bracket of 10 to 24 years, 68% in the 15 to 64 years age group, and 7% above 65 years. The shift in population rankings between India and China has significant implications for both countries in terms of policy planning, resource allocation, and social development. As India continues to grapple with the challenges and opportunities posed by its growing population, effective strategies for sustainable population management and development will be crucial for the country’s future.
