IT Minister Highlights Youth Participation and Enterprise Applications at AI Impact Summit

NEW DELHI, Feb 18: Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Wednesday said India is directing its artificial intelligence strategy toward practical deployment, focusing on enterprise productivity and large scale public challenges such as healthcare, agriculture and climate resilience.

Addressing a research symposium during the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, Vaishnaw emphasised the importance of “AI at the edge” and use case driven innovation aimed at solving real world problems. He said India’s approach prioritises scalable solutions capable of addressing the needs of its vast population.

The minister also expressed optimism over strong youth engagement at the accompanying AI Expo, where approximately 2.5 lakh participants  largely under the age of 30 attended events and exhibitions.

Describing his interactions with young attendees as encouraging, Vaishnaw said their optimism reflected confidence in the transformative potential of artificial intelligence for India’s future.

He urged researchers and industry leaders to offer concrete recommendations on ensuring AI safety, stressing that technological advancement must remain aligned with human welfare.

The India AI Impact Summit, one of the country’s largest international platforms on artificial intelligence, has brought together policymakers, technology experts and industry leaders to deliberate on innovation frameworks, governance standards and applied AI models.
