India Records 116 New Covid-19 Cases in 24 Hours, Active Tally Reaches 4170: Health Ministry Update

New Delhi, 26-12-2023 : In the last 24 hours, India reported 116 new cases of Covid-19, according to data from the Health Ministry on Tuesday. The total tally of active Covid-19 cases has now reached 4,170, constituting 0.01 percent of the total active cases in the country.

Within this period, Karnataka witnessed three deaths, bringing the total death toll to 5,337, with a case fatality rate of 1.18 percent. On a positive note, the number of individuals who have recovered from the disease has risen to 44,47,2153, and the national recovery rate stands at an impressive 98.81 percent, as per the health ministry.

In the state of Karnataka, specifically, three deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours, contributing to the overall toll. The case fatality rate in the state stands at 1.18 percent.

Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj provided assurance that the national capital is experiencing an average of three to four Covid-19 cases daily and affirmed the city’s preparedness to combat a potential virus resurgence.

Simultaneously, the Delhi government reported on Tuesday that Covid-19 positive samples have been sent to laboratories for genome sequencing. This move aims to closely monitor the genetic makeup of the virus and identify any emerging variants.

While the overall situation remains under control, continued vigilance, testing, and genomic surveillance are crucial in the ongoing efforts to manage and understand the dynamics of the Covid-19 pandemic in India.
