India Successfully Test Fires Agni Prime Missile From Rail Mobile Launcher

Next-generation Agni-Prime showcases strategic mobility with 2,000 km range from rail-mobile launcher.

NEW DELHI, Sep 25: India successfully test fired its Agni Prime missile from a rail based mobile launcher, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh confirmed on Thursday. The launch marks a first of its kind demonstration of the missile’s capability from a rail platform.

The Agni-Prime, a next-generation missile with an operational range of up to 2,000 kilometres, incorporates advanced technologies for precision, speed, and survivability. Designed to operate from rail-mobile systems, the missile can traverse the national rail network, offering cross-country mobility, rapid launch readiness, and reduced detectability.

“This rail-based launch enhances our strategic capabilities, enabling quick reaction time with minimized visibility,” Singh posted on X, emphasizing the importance of mobility and operational flexibility in India’s missile arsenal.

The successful test underlines India’s continued advancements in missile technology and its commitment to strengthening national defence capabilities.
