Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri concludes key US visit, boosting bilateral cooperation in energy, defence, and strategic sectors

US, Apr 11 : India and the United States have stepped up efforts to expand their strategic energy partnership, with discussions focusing on civil nuclear cooperation, LPG trade, and emerging technologies like coal gasification. The talks took place during Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri’s three day visit to the US.

During his meeting with US Energy Secretary Chris Wright, both sides explored ways to enhance energy security and deepen bilateral trade in the energy sector. The dialogue also aimed at identifying new opportunities to strengthen the India–US Energy Partnership, according to the Indian Embassy.

Misri also held high level engagements with key officials across departments, including defence, commerce, and state. He met US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to further reinforce diplomatic and strategic ties between the two nations.

Highlighting the growing cooperation, US Ambassador to India Sergei Gor expressed Washington’s readiness to collaborate with India in civil nuclear energy following the passage of the Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy Act. The law is expected to open up India’s nuclear sector to private participation, creating new avenues for international partnerships.

In parallel developments, A P Singh, Chief of the Air Staff, visited the Peterson Space Force Base, where he held discussions with Gregory M Guillot. The interaction focused on operational coordination and reflected the deepening defence cooperation between the two countries.
