BEIJING, Nov 1: The Indian Consulate in Shanghai has launched a month long special initiative to ensure the prompt resolution of consular grievances and improve services for the Indian community residing in its jurisdiction.
The initiative is being carried out under the implementation phase of Special Campaign 6.0 and is linked with the #SwachtaHiSeva 2026 campaign, the Consulate said in a post on X on Sunday.
As part of the outreach programme, Consul General Pratik Mathur led a large-scale consular services camp, known as Seva Shivir, in Shaoxing county’s Keqiao district in Zhejiang province.
Highlighting the significance of the area, Mathur described Keqiao, popularly known as ‘Little India’ on mainland China, as an important centre for the Indian community. The district is home to a sizeable population of Indian nationals, including students, traders and businesspersons involved in diverse professional activities.
The Consul General also appreciated the community’s efforts in extending social support and strengthening engagement with local residents. He particularly acknowledged their contribution to organising large-scale blood donation drives and other welfare activities.
The Consulate noted that Indians living in Keqiao come from different parts of the country and maintain a strong sense of unity, reflecting the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’.
Mathur also extended his greetings to the Indian community on National Unity Day, observed on October 31 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. This year marks Patel’s 151st birth anniversary.
The special campaign aims to make consular services more accessible, reduce procedural delays and strengthen engagement between Indian diplomatic missions and citizens living overseas.
