Indian Missions Worldwide Celebrate International Gita Mahotsav

Global events highlight the Bhagavad Gita’s timeless teachings and cultural influence

India, Dec 01 : Indian diplomatic missions across the world marked the International Gita Mahotsav with spiritual discourses, cultural programmes and collective recitations, highlighting the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita and its relevance in modern life.

In Kenya, the Indian High Commission in Nairobi along with the Hindu Council of Kenya hosted an event featuring a special video message from External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar marking the 10th International Gita Mahotsav.
Indian High Commissioner Adarsh Swaika thanked partner organisations and acknowledged groups actively promoting Gita teachings in Kenya. Representatives and students from ISKCON, Chinmaya Mission, Bhakti Marga and the Hindu Council participated through discourses and shloka chanting.

The global celebration coincides with the grand International Gita Mahotsav in Kurukshetra, held from November 15 to December 5, commemorating the day Lord Krishna delivered the Gita’s divine message to Arjun on the battlefield.

In the United States, the Consulate General of India in Houston joined Geeta Pariwar to celebrate Gita Jayanti at the Vitthal Rukmini Mandir.
Indian Consul Prashant Sona emphasised that the Gita remains a “living cultural heritage” that continues to inspire clarity, harmony, duty and resilience in everyday life. Collective recitations and reflections brought the scripture’s core teachings—balance, compassion and purposeful action into focus.

Across missions, the celebrations reaffirmed the Bhagavad Gita’s universal message of righteousness, wisdom and spiritual grounding.
