New Delhi: India accelerated preparations for upcoming international sporting events as sports federations intensified athlete training programs and overseas exposure initiatives during May 2026.
Officials from the Sports Authority of India said priority sports including athletics, boxing, wrestling, badminton and shooting are receiving enhanced support ahead of major competitions.
Training camps have been expanded in multiple states while foreign coaches continue working with elite athletes. Sports scientists are also focusing on nutrition, injury prevention and performance analysis.
Government officials reiterated their commitment to strengthening India’s Olympic ambitions through increased infrastructure investment and athlete scholarships.
Experts said India’s recent success in international events has increased expectations for future medal performances. Corporate sponsorship and private-sector involvement in sports development have also grown steadily.
