BENGALURU, May 16: India’s higher education and corporate sectors are increasingly joining hands to address employability challenges and prepare students for rapidly evolving industries driven by artificial intelligence, green technologies and digital innovation.
At the Campus to Career Summit in Bengaluru, multiple partnerships were announced between universities, technology firms and skill development organisations to provide specialised training, internships and AI-focused certification programmes.
Officials said the partnerships are intended to reduce the gap between academic learning and industry expectations. Employers across sectors have repeatedly highlighted concerns over skill shortages despite large numbers of graduates entering the workforce each year.
Industry leaders stressed that future employment markets will demand expertise in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, semiconductors, robotics and sustainability-driven technologies.
Several institutions unveiled plans to introduce integrated learning models combining classroom education with hands on industrial exposure. Experts believe such collaborations could significantly improve job readiness among graduates.
Corporate representatives also called for greater flexibility in university curricula to ensure students can adapt to changing technological trends. The increasing use of automation in manufacturing, finance and services has accelerated demand for specialised technical training.
Education policy experts argued that skill based learning would play a critical role in supporting India’s economic ambitions, particularly in technology exports and digital innovation.
Analysts noted that India’s youthful population represents a major opportunity, but sustained investment in practical training and digital literacy will be necessary to fully realise its workforce potential.
