India, Dec 13 : IndiGo on Friday said it expects its total compensation payout to exceed ₹500 crore after a series of massive flight cancellations disrupted operations for nearly a week starting December 2. The airline assured compensation to passengers whose flights were cancelled within 24 hours of departure, as well as those who were severely stranded at select airports.
In a statement, IndiGo said its priority is to make the compensation and refund process “transparent, easy and hassle free” for affected customers. “Based on our current assessment, compensation will be in excess of ₹500 crore for customers impacted by last minute cancellations and those severely stranded at certain airports,” the airline said.
India’s largest carrier added that its teams are working on a war footing to ensure timely refund processing and compensation disbursal. “Our primary focus through December 2025 is to ensure all refunds for affected passengers are processed efficiently and with utmost urgency. Most refunds have already been completed, and the remaining will be reflected shortly,” the airline said.
IndiGo also noted that it is identifying flights where passengers were severely impacted between December 3 and 5, 2025. The airline will reach out to eligible customers in January to extend compensation in a phased and seamless manner.
Following the disruptions, IndiGo said it had stabilised its operations from December 9 and was scheduled to operate more than 2,050 flights on Friday.
