New Delhi, Feb 20 : IndiGo is facing criticism after BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal accused the airline of misplacing his luggage during a flight from the national capital to Belagavi, describing the incident as a “shameful experience.”
Khandelwal, who represents Chandni Chowk in Parliament, said he travelled on flight 6E-5237 but did not receive his baggage upon arrival. In a post on X, he expressed concern over the lack of clarity regarding its whereabouts and sought an immediate explanation from the carrier.
The MP stated that the missing luggage has caused “immense mental agony, serious inconvenience, and financial loss,” as he was compelled to purchase essential clothing and personal items after landing. He also noted that the bag contained important and valuable documents, which added to his distress.
Calling the situation unacceptable, Khandelwal questioned the airline’s baggage handling standards and asked what ordinary passengers might experience if such an incident could occur with a sitting Member of Parliament.
In his post, he tagged IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers and Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, urging intervention and accountability over what he termed concerning operational standards.
IndiGo has yet to publicly respond to the allegations.
