IndiGo Flight Executes Emergency Landing in Delhi After Mid-Air Engine Malfunction

Full emergency declared at IGI Airport as Visakhapatnam-Delhi flight carrying 160 passengers encounters technical snag

New Delhi, Mar 28: A Delhi bound IndiGo flight from Visakhapatnam carrying 160 passengers made a safe emergency landing at the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Saturday following a mid air engine malfunction, sources said.

According to officials, a full emergency was declared at the airport at around 10:39 am after the pilot reported a failure in one of the aircraft’s engines. The flight, operating as 6E 579, was a Boeing 737.

Despite the technical issue, the aircraft landed safely at approximately 10:59 am, as per flight tracking data. Airport emergency response teams were on standby to handle the situation.

All passengers and crew members are reported to be safe. Authorities are expected to conduct a detailed inspection of the aircraft to determine the cause of the malfunction.
