Jewar (Uttar Pradesh), June 15: IndiGo on Monday became the inaugural airline to commence commercial flight services from the newly opened Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar, marking a significant milestone for India’s rapidly expanding aviation sector.
The airline’s first arrival landed from Lucknow in the morning, followed shortly by the airport’s first outbound IndiGo service to Bengaluru. The launch establishes Noida International Airport as the latest aviation hub in the National Capital Region (NCR) and strengthens connectivity between major metropolitan centres and emerging cities across the country.
The commencement of operations represents a major step in enhancing air travel accessibility for passengers in western Uttar Pradesh and the broader Delhi-NCR region. With services now active, travellers can access direct flights to more than 16 domestic destinations through IndiGo’s growing network.
The airline has also introduced convenient one-stop travel options linking several city pairs that previously lacked seamless connectivity. Passengers from cities including Amritsar, Bareilly, Chandigarh, Dharamshala, Jammu, Jaipur, Kishangarh and Pantnagar will benefit from improved connections through the airline’s expanding network. Speaking on the occasion, IndiGo Chief Strategy Officer Aloke Singh described the opening of the airport as an important development in India’s aviation landscape. According to Singh, serving as the launch carrier at the new airport reflects the airline’s commitment to supporting the economic and transportation needs of western Uttar Pradesh and the wider Delhi-NCR region. Christoph Schnellmann, Vice Chairman of Noida International Airport, said the arrival of the first scheduled flights marks the beginning of a new phase for the airport.
