Srinagar/New Delhi: Following the mention of Qazigund based Dr Muzuffar in the ongoing investigation into the inter state white collar terror module busted earlier this week, the government has initiated steps to bring him back to India. Dr Muzuffar reportedly left the country in August for a foreign destination.
An official explained, “The case is being investigated by the SIA. J&K Police cannot directly request an Interpol Red Corner notice but can initiate the process, after which a central agency may issue it. The investigation is ongoing.”
J&K Health Minister Sakina Ittoo also confirmed that the case remains under investigation.
Background and Investigation Details
Sources revealed that Dr Muzuffar’s name surfaced during interrogations of the arrested doctors, who had traveled to Turkey in 2021. Dr Umar Nabi, identified as the driver of the explosives-laden car used in the Red Fort blast on Monday, was part of the same group. The doctors had stayed in Turkey for 21 days.
Authorities discovered that Dr Muzuffar had traveled out of India in August, and efforts are underway to determine his exact location abroad.
In response to media reports linking Turkey to the incident, the Directorate of Communications Centre for Countering Disinformation in Turkey issued a statement denying any involvement, calling the claims “malicious disinformation” and asserting that Turkey does not engage in radicalization targeting India or any other country.
