09-10-2023 : On Monday, a significant change took place in the leadership of the Jammu Zone’s law enforcement, as Anand Jain assumed the role of Inspector General of Police (IGP), replacing Mukesh Singh. This transition enabled Mukesh Singh to undertake a new assignment within the Government of India.
Anand Jain, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the 1999 batch of the Jammu and Kashmir cadre, has a commendable track record in the service. Prior to his new appointment as IGP Jammu Zone, he served as the Director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau in Jammu and Kashmir. His extensive experience and expertise in various roles have earned him a reputation as a capable officer.
Throughout his career, Anand Jain has held several pivotal positions in both the Jammu and Kashmir region and during his deputation to the Government of India. Some of his previous roles include serving as the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) in Ganderbal, Superintendent of Police (SP) in East Srinagar, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Baramulla (on two occasions), and also fulfilling responsibilities as the Additional Inspector General (AIG) Provision/Transport at Police Headquarters (PHQ). Moreover, he has held the positions of SSP in Reasi, SSP in Rajouri, SSP in Jammu, Commandant of the IR 15th Battalion, and worked with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) under the Government of India. Additionally, he has served as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the National Investigation Agency (NIA), also under the Government of India, and as Inspector General of Police at the Headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir.
As Anand Jain stepped into his new role as IGP Jammu Zone, the staff members at the Zonal Police Headquarters (ZPHQ) bid farewell to the outgoing ADGP Jammu Zone, Mukesh Singh, in a warm send-off ceremony. During the event, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Range acknowledged and praised Mukesh Singh’s exceptional contributions during his more than four years as the head of the Jammu Zone. Mukesh Singh’s tenure in this important position has left a significant mark in the region’s law enforcement and administration.
