Israel Claims Killing of Iran’s Hormuz Blockade Commander Alireza Tangsiri

Senior Iranian commander linked to Hormuz blockade reportedly killed in Bandar Abbas attack

Jerusalem, Mar 26: A senior naval commander of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Alireza Tangsiri, has reportedly been killed in a strike in Bandar Abbas, according to Israeli media citing official sources.

Reports suggest the operation was carried out jointly by the United States and Israel, though there has been no official confirmation from Iran or the Israeli military so far.

Tangsiri, who had been leading the IRGC Navy since 2018, was considered a key figure in Iran’s maritime strategy and was closely associated with the recent blockade of the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

The development comes amid escalating tensions in the region, with ongoing hostilities since late February significantly impacting global security and energy routes.

Known as a seasoned military figure, Tangsiri had reportedly survived multiple past assassination attempts, making his reported death a notable moment in the ongoing conflict.

Despite a series of targeted strikes on senior leadership, including key Revolutionary Guard commanders, Iran’s governing structure has continued to function, relying on a deeply rooted institutional framework established after the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

The situation remains fluid, with global attention focused on further developments and their potential impact on regional stability and international shipping routes.
