New Delhi, Oct 15 : A day after a tragic bus fire claimed 20 lives on the Jaisalmer–Jodhpur route, the district administrations of Jodhpur and Jaisalmer have released helpline numbers to assist families of the victims and those missing.
The fatal incident occurred near Thaiyat village in Jaisalmer on Tuesday when a passenger bus operated by KK Travels (RJ 09PA8040) caught fire, leaving at least 20 people dead and several injured.
In an official statement, authorities urged citizens to help identify victims and support families searching for missing relatives. “All respected citizens are requested to assist in identifying and helping the family members of those who are missing or untraceable in the fire accident involving the KK Travels bus,” the message read.
The district administration also announced that DNA samples will be collected from two of the deceased’s closest relatives to confirm identities. Special arrangements have been made at Cottages 4 and 5 of Mahatma Gandhi Hospital, Jodhpur, and at the Trauma Centre of Jawahar Hospital, Jaisalmer.

Authorities said expert forensic teams from Ajmer and Bikaner are being dispatched to Jodhpur to expedite DNA identification.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma visited the injured at Mahatma Gandhi Hospital in Jodhpur on Tuesday. “I have instructed doctors to ensure the best possible medical assistance and treatment. I pray for the speedy recovery of all the injured,” Sharma posted on X.
Jodhpur Police Commissioner Om Prakash Paswan confirmed that 16 injured passengers were brought from Jaisalmer 15 are being treated at Mahatma Gandhi Hospital, while one is admitted to Shri Ram Hospital.
The state government has assured all necessary support to the victims’ families and pledged a thorough investigation into the cause of the deadly accident.
