UNITED NATIONS, Sept 25: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday gave a pointed response to a Pakistani journalist who questioned him over alleged Indian involvement in terrorism in Pakistan.
Following remarks by Jaishankar and Liberia’s Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti at the UN headquarters on the Group of Friends on Safety and Security of Shipping and Seafarers, a Pakistani journalist directed a question at the Indian minister.
“When will your government stop sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan?” the journalist asked.
Jaishankar responded sharply, saying, “A terrorist country is asking me that question. Come on.”
India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Harish Parvathaneni, then told the journalist, “You have heard your reply. You have heard your response, loud and clear.”
The exchange came a day after an Indian journalist questioned Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif while he was entering the UN building, asking, “When will you stop harbouring terrorists?”
