27-04-223 : The Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority (JKDMA) has issued an avalanche warning for the Ganderbal district within the next 24 hours. The statement released by the authority stated that there is a low danger level avalanche expected to occur above 2800 metres above sea level. JKDMA has advised residents living in these areas to take precautions and avoid entering the avalanche-prone areas until further notice.
This warning comes after a tragic incident in February this year, where two foreigners lost their lives in an avalanche at Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir. In a recent incident, 19 stranded tourists from overseas and 2 local guides were rescued from Hapatkhud Kangdori in Gulmarg where they had gone skiing.
