JAMMU, May 20: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Wednesday ordered the placement of four senior IPS officers as In-charge Inspectors General of Police (IGPs) with immediate effect as part of an administrative restructuring in the Union Territory.
The decision was issued through Government Order No. 298-Home of 2026 dated May 20 by the Home Department under the directions of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. Officials said the move was made in the interest of smooth governance and efficient functioning of the police department.
According to the order, Shakti Kumar Pathak, IPS (AGMUT:2009), who is presently serving as Assistant Director in the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and also holding additional charge as Director ACB, has been elevated as In-charge IGP.
Dr. Mohd Haseeb Mughal, currently posted as DIG Traffic Jammu, has also been assigned the rank of In-charge IGP. Alongside him, Sheikh Junaid Mehmood, serving as DIG IR Kashmir, and Shahid Mehraj Rather, Director Police Telecom J&K, have been granted the same placement.
The Home Department further clarified that detailed posting and transfer orders for the officers will be issued separately in due course.
