Jammu, 10-01-2024 : The Jammu and Kashmir Government has taken a significant step by appointing Block Development Officers (BDOs) as Administrators to oversee the functioning of Panchayat Halqas under their jurisdiction. This decision comes into effect from January 10, 2024, and will continue for a duration of six months or until further orders are issued.
In an official notification released today, the government explained that these appointments are a response to the expiration of the term of Halqa Panchayats on January 9, 2024. It is acknowledged that the immediate constitution of the Halqa Panchayats is not feasible, leading to the appointment of BDOs as Administrators to ensure the continued governance and management of Panchayat affairs.
