Jammu and Kashmir: Man Arrested for Duping Job Seeker of ₹4.2 Lakh

Accused Fayz Ahmed from Budgam had been evading arrest for over a year; charged for promising fake government job.

Jammu, Nov 8: The Crime Branch unit of Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested a man accused of duping a job seeker of ₹4.20 lakh on the false promise of securing a government job.
The accused, identified as Fayz Ahmed, a resident of Chadoora in Budgam district, had been evading arrest since 2023 after a case was registered against him in Jammu. According to officials, Ahmed was charge-sheeted before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Poonch, on October 28.
The complaint was filed by Javaid Iqbal from Poonch, who alleged that Ahmed extracted ₹4.20 lakh from him on the pretext of providing a job as a panchayat accountant.
During the investigation, police discovered that Ahmed was also involved in two similar fraud cases registered in 2022 by the Crime Branch.
After being tracked for nearly three months, a special police team arrested him from Jammu on Friday. The accused was produced before the Sub-Judge Court in Poonch and has been remanded to judicial custody.
Police said further investigation is underway to identify other potential victims and any accomplices involved in the fraudulent network.
