Dry Spell to Persist in Jammu & Kashmir Till February 26, Says MeT

Kashmir, Feb 16 : The Meteorological Department has forecast largely dry and stable weather across Jammu and Kashmir until February 26, with minimal chances of rainfall or snowfall, officials said on Monday.

Isolated Snowfall Possible in Higher Reaches

Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, Director of MeT Srinagar, noted that while most areas will remain calm, light snow may occur over isolated higher altitudes on February 17. From February 18 to 24, the region is expected to remain predominantly dry, with skies partly to generally cloudy on February 25 and 26.

Outlook Beyond February 26

The department predicts partly to generally cloudy conditions on February 27–28, with possible light rain or snow over select high-altitude areas during evenings or nights. March 1 and 2 could see light snowfall at isolated higher elevations under generally cloudy skies.

Safety and Agricultural Advisory

Farmers have been advised to continue agricultural activities as conditions remain favourable. Residents in snow-bound or steep areas are cautioned against venturing into avalanche-prone zones for safety. Temperatures across the Union Territory are expected to gradually rise over the coming week.
