SRINAGAR, Aug 31: Mohammed Yousuf Tarigami, a prominent leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and candidate representing the National Conference-Congress-CPI(M) alliance for the Kulgam assembly constituency, has called on the people of Jammu and Kashmir to exercise extreme caution and wisdom in the upcoming elections. Speaking at a rally in Checkpora, Kulgam, on Saturday, Tarigami emphasized the critical importance of selecting representatives who are committed to addressing pressing issues such as unemployment, skyrocketing electricity bills, and the perceived erosion of political and civil rights.
“The current elections are being conducted under unprecedented and extraordinary circumstances,” Tarigami remarked. “Given the challenging environment, voters must be exceptionally discerning in their choices to ensure their elected representatives can effectively tackle the myriad issues affecting our region.”
Tarigami highlighted the pervasive dissatisfaction stemming from ineffective governance, which he believes has been a persistent issue since 2014. He stressed that the key to addressing these problems lies in the unity of secular parties. “We must overcome our differences and unite to confront the policies that have been detrimental to the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he stated.
The CPI(M) leader also pointed out the multifaceted suffering experienced by the residents of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh. He listed concerns such as corruption, exorbitant electricity bills, high unemployment rates, rising prices, and the undermining of political and civil rights as pivotal issues that need urgent attention.
“This election presents a significant responsibility for the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” Tarigami said. “It is not merely a matter of casting a vote but an opportunity to address and resolve critical issues that impact our daily lives and future.”
With the elections approaching, Tarigami’s message resonates as a call for voters to carefully consider their choices, with the hope of electing leaders who will prioritize and address these pressing concerns.
