Jammu, Sept 18: Jammu Police on Thursday registered an FIR in connection with a firing incident in Sainik Colony last month, which was initially reported as a road traffic accident.
The case came to light after investigations revealed that the injuries sustained by three women were not accidental but the result of a targeted shooting. The victims include Mehjabeen Akil Sheikh (30), her sister Fatima Akhil (21), and Jaspreet Kour (28), residing at House No. 157, Sector A, Sainik Colony. Mehjabeen later succumbed to her injuries at GMC Jammu.
The women were initially admitted to JK Medicity Hospital on August 21, 2025, as RTA victims before being shifted to ASCOMS Batra Hospital and then referred to GMC Jammu. An inquest (DD No. 29 dated 30/08/2025) was initiated at Police Station Channi.
During further investigation, police discovered that the shooting had occurred inside the rented accommodation, and an unknown assailant had fired at the women before fleeing the scene. Police sources said the incident had been deliberately concealed and presented as an accident.
Following the revelations, FIR No. 152/2025 has been registered under Sections 103(1), 109, and 332(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against unknown individuals. Jammu Police have launched a probe to identify and apprehend the culprit, and the investigation is ongoing.
