Patna, Dec 24: Janata Dal (United) MLC Neeraj Kumar has written to the Bihar Director General of Police (DGP), urging special monitoring of Tejashwi Yadav’s close aides, Ramiz Nemat Khan and Deva Gupta, amid reports suggesting they may accompany the Leader of Opposition on a foreign trip.
In his letter dated Wednesday, Kumar highlighted that media reports from December 5 indicated that Tejashwi Yadav may have travelled abroad with Ramiz Nemat Khan, a known history-sheeter from Balrampur district (now Shravasti), Uttar Pradesh. Khan’s family has a controversial political background, with his father in law Rizwan Zaheer Khan, a former MP and MLA, currently in jail in a murder case. Khan himself, along with his wife Zeba Rizwan and father-in-law, was arrested in connection with a 2021 district panchayat murder case.
Kumar also raised concerns about Deva Gupta, the RJD candidate from Motihari Sadar, whose name reportedly appears in the list of 100 most wanted criminals by the East Champaran Police. According to the letter, Gupta faces 28 serious criminal cases, including murder, extortion, and land grabbing, with a reward of Rs 1 lakh announced for his arrest.
“Considering the above facts seriously, it is requested that the police keep close surveillance on persons with criminal backgrounds who are allegedly accompanying the Leader of Opposition, Tejashwi Yadav,” Kumar wrote.
The JD(U) leader’s request comes amid heightened political tensions in Bihar ahead of the 2025 Assembly elections, emphasizing the need for law enforcement to monitor potential security risks involving high-profile political figures and their associates.
