Ranchi, Sept 19: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Friday emphasized the strategic importance of the state’s uranium reserves, noting that they could play a significant role in nuclear weapon development.
Speaking at the Defence East Tech symposium in Ranchi, Soren stated that the Jharkhand government is ready to collaborate fully with the Centre to strengthen India’s defence sector and promote self-reliance.
“Jharkhand is endowed with uranium and can contribute to nuclear weapon manufacturing. The state government is ready to cooperate fully with the Centre to make the defence sector self-reliant,” he said.
Uranium, a critical element in nuclear weapons production, underscores Jharkhand’s potential role in advancing India’s strategic defence capabilities.
