J&K Congress Chief Denies Reports of Breakup with National Conference, Calls Rumours ‘Malicious’

Karra dismissed the reports, calling them "completely baseless, malicious, fabricated, and fabricated rumors," adding, "I have nothing further to comment on this; it's not worth responding to."

Jammu, Jan 21: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president, Tariq Hameed Karra, has firmly denied reports suggesting a potential collapse of the alliance between Congress and the National Conference (NC), labeling them as “malicious” and “concocted.”

Speaking exclusively to Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Karra dismissed the circulating rumors, emphasizing that there was no truth to them. He reaffirmed Congress’s commitment to the ongoing alliance, stating that the party remains steadfast in its support for the current dispensation.

“These are just baseless, malicious, concocted, and constructed rumors. I don’t have much to say about it. This is not a thing to respond to,” Karra asserted, putting an end to the speculation.

While refuting claims of any discord within the alliance, Karra reiterated that Congress’s primary demand remains the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. He made it clear that Congress would not participate in any cabinet formation until this key issue is addressed. “Statehood restoration is our principal stand. We are not joining the cabinet unless statehood is restored,” Karra added, reinforcing his party’s commitment to this fundamental demand.

The comments come amid circulating reports on social media suggesting that Congress was reconsidering its partnership with the National Conference, fuelling speculation about the stability of the alliance in the region.
