J&K Cop Injured in Armed Attack in Jammu

Four assailants attacked the officer with a sharp weapon and brandished a pistol before fleeing; manhunt underway

JAMMU, Dec 14: A sub inspector of the Jammu and Kashmir Police was injured after being attacked by a group of armed men on the outskirts of Jammu on Sunday evening, officials said.

The incident took place around 8.30 pm at Gurrah Morh, where Sub-Inspector Nitin Khajuria, posted at Bakshi Nagar police station, was intercepted by four assailants travelling in a Thar vehicle, a police spokesperson said.

The attackers assaulted the officer with a sharp edged weapon, causing injuries, and allegedly brandished a pistol before fleeing the scene, he said.

Two of the accused have been identified as Rishab and Munna D, while efforts are on to trace and apprehend them along with their two accomplices, the spokesperson added.

The injured officer was rushed to the Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital for treatment. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
