J&K Government Clarifies Property Transaction Rules for Public Servants

JAMMU, March 19: The Jammu and Kashmir General Administration Department (GAD) has issued a circular reiterating the legal obligation of public servants to seek prior permission from the designated authority before engaging in any transaction involving immovable property.

The clarification comes in response to concerns regarding compliance with service conduct rules, ensuring transparency and accountability in property dealings by government employees. The circular emphasizes that no public servant shall acquire, sell, mortgage, gift, or otherwise transfer immovable property without obtaining prior approval from the competent authority as per the established regulations.

The government has further urged all public officials to adhere strictly to these provisions to avoid any disciplinary action. The directive is aimed at preventing any potential misuse of official positions in property-related matters and reinforcing ethical standards in public service.

The General Administration Department has also called upon all departments to ensure that these guidelines are communicated effectively to their employees, reinforcing the commitment to integrity and rule-based governance in Jammu and Kashmir.
