JAMMU, Apr 24: In a move aimed at streamlining file processing and improving real-time communication within the e-Office system, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has taken significant steps to modernize its digital administration. The General Administration Department (GAD) on Wednesday announced the activation of SMS services for e-Office users in the Secretariat and issued an advisory to ensure seamless functionality and enhanced user experience.
According to the official advisory, all employees using the e-Office platform are advised to promptly update their mobile numbers in the system to receive timely notifications regarding file movements, approvals, and other key updates. These alerts, delivered through SMS, are intended to improve workflow efficiency and reduce delays in administrative processing.
“In order to enable real-time notifications for e-Office file transactions, SMS services have been activated for users. All employees must verify and update their mobile numbers in their e-Office profiles and configure the necessary notification preferences,” the advisory stated.
In addition to this enhancement, the GAD has also addressed ongoing concerns related to interruptions in SMS delivery of One-Time Passwords (OTPs), which are essential for secure login to the e-Office system. To mitigate this issue and ensure continued access to the platform, the department has recommended the installation of the Parichay Authenticator App. This mobile application enables secure and reliable login via Time-based Authentication Protocol (TAP), a robust alternative to SMS-based OTPs.
“With reports of intermittent outages in SMS delivery for OTPs, users are advised to install the Parichay Authenticator App available for Android and iOS platforms. The app will facilitate secure logins using TAP Authentication, ensuring uninterrupted access to e-Office services,” the statement added.
