J&K Govt Calls Back Legislative Assembly Staff from Deputation Ahead of Vote Counting

JAMMU, Oct 3:  The Jammu and Kashmir administration has issued a directive instructing all legislative assembly staff, who had been temporarily deputed to various departments, to return to their original postings in the legislative assembly. This order comes just days ahead of the vote counting for the recent elections, with results set to be announced on October 8 for the newly elected 90-member assembly.

The General Administration Department (GAD) released a formal order stating, “All employees belonging to the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, who were deployed across various departments by the GAD over time, are required to immediately report to the office of the Secretary, J&K Legislative Assembly, located in Jammu or Srinagar.”

The GAD further instructed the Secretary of the Legislative Assembly to provide a detailed report on any cases of non-compliance within one week of the issuance of the order. The move signals the restoration of legislative staff to their designated roles, as the region prepares for the return of its assembly after a gap of 10 years.

The last assembly was dissolved in 2018, after which the GAD had assigned assembly employees to different departments due to the absence of an active legislature. With the elections now complete, the government is realigning staff to ensure the smooth functioning of the legislative assembly once it resumes operations.
