J&K I Observes Shab-e-Barat with Night-Long Prayers, Hazratbal Hosts Largest Congregation

Srinagar, 13-02-2025: The sacred night of Shab-e-Barat, a night of divine mercy and spiritual reflection, is being observed with immense devotion across Kashmir. Thousands of believers have gathered in mosques and shrines, engaging in night-long prayers, seeking forgiveness, and supplicating for peace and prosperity. The largest congregation is taking place at the revered Hazratbal Shrine, where worshippers, moved by faith, are beseeching Allah for His boundless mercy and blessings.

Shab-e-Barat, regarded as the Night of Forgiveness, holds immense significance in Islamic tradition. It is believed that on this blessed night, the destinies of individuals are inscribed, and Allah, in His infinite compassion, grants redemption to those who sincerely repent. Devotees immerse themselves in the recitation of the Holy Quran, offering Nawafil (special prayers) and making heartfelt supplications for themselves, their families, and the entire Ummah. The atmosphere is filled with the solemnity of zikr (remembrance of Allah), as worshippers seek divine pardon and guidance for the days ahead.

At Hazratbal and other major shrines, authorities have taken special measures to facilitate the smooth observance of this sacred night. Security personnel have been deployed, sanitation teams have worked tirelessly to ensure cleanliness and special lighting arrangements have been made to accommodate the large influx of devotees. An official from the Waqf Board stated that every effort has been made to provide an atmosphere conducive to worship and spiritual contemplation.

However, amid the widespread observance of this holy night, a sense of disappointment prevails among the faithful due to the closure of Jama Masjid Srinagar for Shab-e-Barat prayers. The Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid has expressed its dismay, emphasizing that the historic mosque has always been a center of spiritual gatherings on such sacred occasions. Worshippers who had hoped to offer their prayers within its hallowed walls have voiced their sorrow, seeing it as an unfortunate disruption to their religious practices.

As the night progresses, the valleys of Kashmir resonate with the echoes of supplications, reminding believers of the fleeting nature of life and the boundless mercy of the Almighty. The faithful, with teary eyes and hopeful hearts, bow in submission, praying for a future filled with peace, prosperity, and divine grace.
