J&K Minister Satish Sharma Pushes Solar Energy Drive During Surprise Visit to Tawanai Ghar

Minister emphasizes Mission Solar Energy, urges practical renewable solutions across Jammu & Kashmir

Srinagar, Sep 18: In a move to boost Jammu & Kashmir’s renewable energy initiatives, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, IT, and Transport, Satish Sharma, conducted a surprise visit to the ‘Tawanai Ghar’ of the Science & Technology (S&T) Department at Bemina to assess its functioning and progress.

During the visit, Sharma instructed officers to explore innovative and practical solar energy solutions suitable for implementation across the Union Territory. Highlighting the importance of Mission Solar Energy, envisioned by the Chief Minister, he said the government is committed to making J&K a model in renewable energy adoption.

“Solar energy has immense potential here, and it is our duty to harness it scientifically and effectively,” Sharma said. He directed the department to prepare detailed proposals and implementation roadmaps for expanding solar installations in government buildings, public institutions, and utilities.

The minister also emphasized promoting household-level solar adoption through incentives and collaborating with research institutions and private stakeholders to develop cost-effective solutions. He instructed timely completion of ongoing renewable energy projects under various government schemes.

Sharma also addressed the grievances of S&T department employees, assuring that genuine demands would be prioritized, and urged senior officers to maintain a supportive and productive work environment.

The visit was attended by CEO JAKEDA, P.R. Dhar, and other senior officers from the Science & Technology Department.
