J&K passing through tough times, dire need to unite & restore people’s confidence: Javed Rana

MENDHAR, MAY 17: Javed Rana, senior Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) leader and President of the party for Pir Panjal Zone has said that the erstwhile state of J&K has been passing through tough times post Article 370 abrogation especially due to the absence of a democratically elected representative Govt. He said that today there is a dire need for unity among the people in the Pir Panjal region besides the need for the restoration of trust and confidence of the people in the Civil and Defence administration.

He was speaking to the media persons during his visit to Bhata Durian where he paid tribute to martyr soldiers and a civilian who lost their lives during the post-Article 370 abrogation period.

Rana said that today there is a need for people-friendly governance and appealed to the military, police, and civil authorities for restoring the confidence and trust of the people that seems to have been shattered in the region especially due to harassment met to them during the recent days.

Regarding the death of the Civilian, the senior NC leader said that the matter needs to be probed thoroughly to ascertain whether it is really a suicide or not and if it is a suicide what are the reasons that led to suicide. Let’s wait for the enquiry report and see what comes to the fore in it, he added. He assured the victim’s family that he will also meet the Lt Governor and the GoC of the Army in this regard and also apprise them about the dire need for unity and restoring people’s confidence so that the battle against Pakistan which is violating the LoC through the infiltration of terrorists, etc so that this fight can be taken to a logical conclusion.

Meanwhile, he lauded the Army for being people-friendly adding that the army under GoC has been always people-friendly and has worked for their welfare. Reiterating his appeal to the Civil, and Police Army administrations to restore the confidence and trust of the people and restrain from unnecessary harassment to them.

Asserting that it is the duty of the people to cooperate with the authorities in administration to maintain integrity and peace but for that, the Civil Administration needs to gain the confidence and trust of the people first, he said that if the people are picked up and interrogated without any substantial ground then it amounts to sheer harassment to them with the authorities reaching to no logical conclusion in this security related significant issue.

He said, “I can state with full trust and confidence that not a single person in Mendhar constituency is anti-national. The people of Mendhar have always stood for the nation and even made sacrifices for the cause of the nation and shall continue the same in all times to come.
