- J&K Micro and Small Industries Sound Alarm Over Proposed Withdrawal of Turnover Incentive
Jammu, 27-07-2026: An urgent meeting of Association of Industries (Regd.) Gangyal was held under the Chairmanship of its president Sh. Virendra Jain attended by a large number of Executive/Advisory Committee members.
Members deliberated on the upcoming amended Industrial Policy. The members expressed their grave concern regarding the negative attitude of the Govt. towards Micro/Small industrial sector of J&K UT.
AOI has been given to understand that the Govt. is going to do away with the Turnover Incentive which plays a vital role in the sustenance of each and every unit of the UT. The denial of the Government for extension of Turnover Incentive shall result into the closure of the maximum Micro/Small industrial units. As such, AOI requests the Hon’ble Lt. Governor Sh. Manoj Sinha, Hon’ble Chief Minister Jenab Omar Abdullah and Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Sh. Surinder Chowdhary to personally intervene into the matter and come to the rescue of Micro/Small industrial sector of J&K UT. It will not be out of context to mention here that Turnover Incentive was provided in lieu of the abolition of Toll Tax and CST exemption on interstate sales. The situation remains the same as discontinuation of Turnover Incentive shall pose a grave threat to the existing Micro/Small Industrial Units. It will also be fair enough to mention here that existing Micro/Small industrial units of J&JK UT is the second largest employment provider after the Govt.
AOI has also been given to understand that it is under the consideration of the Govt. to provide Freight Subsidy on sales beyond 1000 km benefiting only a few units which can be counted on finger tips while the 98% of the Micro/Small Industrial units shall remain devoid of this incentive. AOI request the Govt. to provide Freight Subsidy for the all interstate sales without any rider which shall make all existing Micro/Small units competitive with the neighboring states. As such freight subsidy beyond 1000 km is not in the interest of Micro/Small existing industrial units of J&K UT.
AOI request the Hon’ble Lt. Governor Sh. Manoj Sinha, Hon’ble Chief Minister Jenab Omar Abdullah and Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Sh. Surinder Chowdhary to take into account the adverse condition of the Micro/Small industrial sector of Jammu and request to grant the extension of Turnover Incentive and Freight Subsidy on interstate sales up to 1000 km in addition to other provisions of the Industrial Policy and save the existing Micro/Small industrial sector of J&K UT.
The meeting was attended among others by the office bearers of the Association S/Sh. Sandeep Ohri, Vice President, Sanjay Langar, General Secretary, Ajay Kumar Mahajan, Secretary and Jatinder Singh, Treasurer, Sh. Balbir Gupta, Sh. R.P. Shastri former presidents and large number of Executive/Advisory committee members.
