JKHCBA Jammu stresses for early resolution of grievances with respect to Sarore Toll Plaza and smart electric meters etc.

Jammu, 22-08-2023: In a jam-packed Press Conference, the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, under the Presidentship of Sr. Advocate Vikram Sharma, strongly urged the NHAI of India to come alive to the genuine grievances of the public and the commuters on the Jammu- Kathua segment of National Highway on account of levy of Toll from Sarore Toll Plaza despite the fact that the section of highway has been damaged in recent floods and is unfit for use.

President of the Association Mr. Vikram Sharma stressed that till so long as the said section of National Highway is not restored for usage by commuters the NHAI should suspend the collection of Toll-fee from Sarore Toll Plaza. He said that JKHCBAJ has always stood for the genuine causes of Jammu and has led the causes to the desired success. He expressed hope that the NHAI and Ministry of Road and Transport would address to the genuine grievances of the public at large and that the demand would be positively responded at the earliest. At the same time, President JKHCBAJ expressed his concerns with regard to faulty/inflated bills being generated by the smart electric meters as has been reported in recent press coverages. Mr Sharma assured that the consumer of the electricity across the Jammu division have been paying the electricity dues irrespective of the nomenclature of the meters, however, the department and  JPDCL must ensure that the meters reflect the outstanding proportionate to the units consumed by a particular consumer. The President of the JKHCBAJ also urged the Administration to broaden the base exemption for property tax and also to simplify the calculation method of property tax for an ordinary man to understand it conveniently.
