JKPCB seizes huge stock of banned polythene

JAMMU, DECEMBER 14: Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Board today seized a huge stock of banned polythene during an anti-Polythene drive in Jammu city.

The drive was conducted under the supervision of Member Secretary J&K PCC, B. M. Sharma and Regional Director Jammu, Sat Pal under the direction of the Chairperson J&K PCC, Dr. Neelu Gera.

A Team comprising officers of J&K PCC raided a godown at Gole Puli, Auto Stand near Baba Sehaj Nath Mandir, and seized banned polythene carry bag (less than 75 microns) weighing approx 2000 kgs.

J&K PCC has intensified its drive against the use of banned polythene and single-use of plastic items and initiated the process of punishing the defaulters and also includes imposing heavy penalties. J&K PCC also advised the general public to desist from accepting the goods from shopkeepers, hawkers or vegetable and fruit vendors etc packed in banned polythene carry bags having a thickness less than 75 microns to ensure that environment is kept clean and safe.
