Jammu Nov. 12: JKPCC chief Shri Tariq Hameed Karra today chaired a review cum preparatory meeting of the party to celebrate the birth anniversary of first prime minister Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru, besides the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi & Constitution Day.
The meeting was attended by senior leaders, former ministers/EX-legislators, DCC Presidents, frontal wings & Ex ex-corporators. Working presidents Tara Chand & Raman Bhalla were also present.
The meeting decided to celebrate the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, on Nov 14th, the birth anniversary of Smt. Indira Gandhi on Nov 29th and Constitution Day on Nov. 19th in a befitting manner.
The function to celebrate Pt. Nehru Jayanti on Nov. 14th will be held at PCC HQ Shaheedi Chownk Jammu.
Addressing the gathering, PCC chief asked the party leaders & workers to gear up their activities in the wake of ULB and panchayat elections in the near future & assured them to strengthen the grass root committees, block committees, and district committees with the induction of the right & dedicated & committed workers at all levels. He said that the working of committees shall be reviewed and the committees at all levels shell be reconstituted & to further strengthen them.
He said that till new committees are constituted, the existing district & block committees shall continue to function & asked them to gear up their activities in their respective areas.
He said that second-line leadership shall be encouraged and promoted based on merit & said that there shall be no favoritism or bias in giving opportunities to work in the organization.
Karra also said that a campaign shall be launched and a series of programs shall be initiated to revive &strengthen the basic ideology of the party and said that the idea of INDIA is the India of Congress, so revival of the idea of Congress means strengthening INDIA.
