JKPCC Working President Meets Priyanka Gandhi, Provides Updates on J&K Politics

26-06-2023 : Raman Bhalla, the working president of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), had a meeting with All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi in New Delhi to provide her with an update on the current political situation and the party’s activities in Jammu and Kashmir.

During the meeting, Bhalla briefed Priyanka Gandhi about the ongoing Congress protests against the exorbitant price hike of essential commodities such as petrol, diesel, and gas, as well as the imposition of property tax and other taxes in J&K. He highlighted the burden placed on the already distressed residents of the region. Bhalla sought guidance from the party’s high command to strengthen the party and its organizational structure at various levels in J&K.

The JKPCC working president engaged in discussions with Priyanka Gandhi on a wide range of issues affecting the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He updated her on the socio-political developments in the region and expressed concerns about the disconnect between the current administration and the people, which has led to restlessness among the populace due to the absence of a popular government in J&K.

During the hour-long discussion, Bhalla emphasized the challenges faced by daily wage workers, the increasing prevalence of corruption, rising unemployment, irregularities in the selection of job candidates, illegal mining, and the allocation of projects to external contractors. He conveyed the people’s readiness to support the Congress in forming the next government in J&K, as they believe that only the Congress will work towards their inclusive development and safeguard their rights.

In response, Priyanka Gandhi urged Bhalla to continue highlighting the wrongdoings of the government, particularly the “anti-people decisions” of the Modi government concerning J&K. She encouraged him to activate party members at various levels to raise awareness about the issues faced by the people and expose the failures and falsehoods of the BJP and the central government in J&K. Priyanka Gandhi emphasized the importance of shedding light on these matters as part of an offensive against the BJP, holding them accountable for their shortcomings in different areas and their neglect in fulfilling commitments made to the people of J&K.

Furthermore, Priyanka Gandhi expressed her appreciation for the JKPCC working president and party members for their dedication and commitment to combating communal and divisive forces in Jammu and Kashmir. She acknowledged their struggle and encouraged them to persist in their efforts.
